Could be the broil that foiled. Seems odd that the body broiled beyond immediate recognition but the drivers license was legible.

The cabin had a basement. Something we overlook living down here.
What I find questionable is with all the running around... changing cabins, car jacking and crashing cars...
How did he carry all that armament around, enough to hold off the cops and exchange fire so many times.

What I found weird is this guy is suppose to be quite smart and knows his way around but gets caught and killed in San Bernadino mountains instead of hiding or fleeing thousands of miles away.
