www.floridatoday.com/article/20140325/NEWS01/303250070/Search-continues-gunman-fatal-Cocoa-shootingBig crowd. Guy with gun comes into the crowd and shoots Lavonte dead. Lavonte is described as a guy who brings joy to everyone. Methinks at least one was not feeling a bunch of joy. Police cannot find the murderer according to Florida Today. Unless I missed the story of his capture. What is puzzling is that the park looks more like a fenced in empty lot. Unless the RV is still parked there. The story says a crowd was there. Huh? Guy with gun waltzes right into a crowd and shoots a likable fella and everyone is clueless? The police have to ask the public who were not present to help them find this unidentified killer. No description except he is a guy with a gun. I can imagine the tips are rolling in. So if you see a guy with a gun, call the cops because there is a killer on the loose.

Of course somebody saw something. There were witnesses. But nobody is talking.

Would you talk to the cops if you saw a guy with a gun kill someone? NAW didnt think so if you wanted to stay alive.

Not saying something has increased the violence. When those that do violence learn that doing violence prevents flapping lips it increases their confidence that further violence is the way to go.

I agree. Apparently, being a 'snitch' is one of the worst things you can be, particularly in minority communities. Couple that with increased gang activity and general distrust of police, and violence feeds on itself.

Couple that with increased gang activity and general distrust of police, and violence feeds on itself. Plus, couple that with law enforcement knowing the danger for themselves is increased in that type of environment. You then have law enforcement approaching a situation much differently. Which that also builds distrust towards police within that environment.

There have been 3 or 4 in the last couple years. They get out of the car with one hand on the gun. But it certainly doesn't give people a warm fuzzy feeling about the police.
