My daddy was a good man. He was a man, his wife was a woman, his six children were either boys or girls. Four were girls and two were boys. None of us children were confused about whether we were female or male. We lived in rural Michigan. My daddy was a dump truck driver building roads. This was back in the 50's and 60's. We ate food from the woods, lakes, rivers, our garden, and our grandfather's farm. My daddy was the only one that had income. He was able to provide us children with complete top quality healthcare. This included eyes and teeth. He belonged to the Teamsters union. On his income he fed us, clothed us, provided reliable transportation, built a house, bought property, assisted all of us who wanted college to go to college. (grade dependent). Plus he had a liveable retirement package once he retired, which also included excellent healthcare. All this on the wages of a dump truck driver with a 6th grade education.
Two things existed during that time frame. Eisenhower and Kennedy. Eisenhower's national resources infrastructure push for a national highway system. Plus Eisenhower had an illegal immigration policy which caused more illegals to go back to their country than those which were deported back to their country. Kennedy's national resources push to go to the moon.
Contrast that to today. How many Daddy's with a 6th grade education can do what my daddy did?
What is the one vision we as a nation today are pushing towards which utilizes and focuses our national resources?
Yep, my daddy was a good man, with a good job, who did his family right well.
