What I cant figure out why a fire in engine stops the whole ship. Dont these ships have backup systems, dont they have more then one engine to drive all those props?

The owners refused to allow ABS to class the vessel. The owners had it classed by an agency in the Cayman Islands. ABS is based in the United States, and they never would have approved the ship. The emergency equipment and controls were in the same location as the engine. Sort of hard to get to the emergency controls when the environment is too hazardous for humans. The controls and equipment need to be in a different location than the engines. Many times ship owners will class their vessels in a country who will turn the other way when the ship has problems. The real question should be, why does Disney refuse to class their vessels in this country. It appears as if the lives of their customers are of little value to them.

I traveled to Mobile a few times when I lived in Pensacola (mid 70s). Had to pass a billboard with Wallace on it when you hit the state line. Full of bullet holes.
Talk about rednecks... if you were from Birmingham they called you a Yankee.

Guess that explains why we never see an American flag on cruise ships,
