Ubuntu used to be at the top of the heap but now it is at #3. Presently the former #2 is now #1, which would be Mint. Out of nowhere Mageia thrust itself into the #2 spot. I predict that Mageia will overtake Mint and become the #1 Linux Distro. Ubuntu could well drop down the pack even further. They seem determined to alienate their base. When it comes to LInux, people will not hang with a Distro which refuses to do the job right. Any Distro that utilizes Ubuntu as their core could well find themselves dropping in ratings. I thought Mint was going to do something pretty good when it bypassed Ubuntu and built straight from Debian instead. However it seems like they have let that project languish, when in fact it needed some serious attention. Mint is much more responsive to it's users than Ubuntu so it will stay near the top but Mageia will no doubt surpass them this year. Personally I think Puppy should be higher in the ratings. It is a pretty decent distro. I use it all the time when I need to get into a different computer that is acting goofy. Ubuntu should be down to #10 for being arrogantly disconnected from it's users, selling users info, and being resistant to fixing some of the issues with it's distro, plus they seem to totally ignore feedback from it's users. They seem to have the same arrogance as Microsoft. Of course former Microsoft employees are players in the development team of Ubuntu, so that may explain some of their mess.
