...We have this many people on disability?
The total number of people in the United States now receiving federal disability benefits hit a record 10,978,040 in May, up from 10,962,532 million in April, according to newly released data from the Social Security Administration.
The 10,978,040 disability beneficiaries in the United States now exceed the population of all but seven states. For example, there are more Americans collecting disability today than there are people living in Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey or Virginia. The record 10,978,040 total disability beneficiaries in May, included a record 8,877,921 disabled workers (up from 8,865,586 in April), a record 1,939,687 children of disabled workers (up from 1,936,236 in April), and 160,432 spouses of disabled workers. May was the 196th straight month that the number of American workers collecting federal disability payments increased. The last time the number of Americans collecting disability decreased was in January 1997. That month the number of workers taking disability dropped by 249 people—from 4,385,623 in December 1996 to 4,385,374 in January 1997.

Sure, I believe we have that many people drawing Disability. The real question is: How many of them are actually disabled, to the point that they are unable to work?

Thats the S.S. job to determind if they can work or not but the agency has become so large a doctors note is sufficent nowadays. I've seen it go both ways. I've known people who have received Disability, with nothing apparent wrong with them; and I've known people who were obviously disabled, and went through hell trying to qualify.

....it's the same with those handicap parking permits, half the people with them are healthier than you or me. I noticed a physical fit woman walk briskly from her car the other day, I said "excuse me lady, just what is your physical handicap?", she replied "Tourettes, now fuc*k off".

There are a lot of unseen handicaps out there that are not visible to others,I blame the doctors and the people that issue these handicap card for not following up with expiration dates on those issued window cards. Take a look at it when you walk by their vehicle.

I don't believe there are than many on disability. I think it is a trick by Putin. Disability benefits is like unemployment benefits, when you run out of one there's another to take its place, permanently.

We have passed the tipping point. We have only to take a look at the PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) of Europe to see our future.
There was a time when people wanted a car like yours, now they want YOUR car.
